Meet Alexis
I didn’t expect acupuncture to change my skin.
During grad school, I was in a near-constant state of stress, 12-hour days, demanding coursework, and the weight of an undiagnosed case of stage 4 endometriosis. My skin reflected all of it: puffiness, eczema, uneven tone, and deep shadows around my eyes and mouth. I tried everything, elimination diets, clean skincare, rest when I could, but nothing created lasting change.
Ironically, I wasn’t even receiving acupuncture.
I was too busy learning how to give it.
Like so many of us, I told myself I didn’t have time. I kept putting off my own care, thinking I’d get to it once everything else was done. But the truth is, rest is what finally created change. Surrender was the medicine.
Eventually, I made the decision to practice what I preach. I committed to twice-weekly acupuncture in our student clinic. It felt like a luxury I couldn’t afford, an hour of stillness while my to-do list waited. But I kept showing up.
And slowly, everything shifted.
My nervous system exhaled. I slept. I could think clearly again. What I studied actually stuck. I’d spent so long believing I needed to push harder, but it was rest that made me sharper.
And then, my skin… glowed.
The most surprising part? We hadn’t even touched my face.
That’s when I realized: true radiance doesn’t come from products. It comes from regulation.
If acupuncture could improve my skin without focusing on it, imagine what becomes possible when we do. Most skin issues don’t begin at the surface, they’re reflections of what’s happening inside: stress, stagnation, hormonal shifts, emotional residue.
