Cosmetic Acupuncture

  • Cosmetic acupuncture (CA) is a natural, holistic approach to skin rejuvenation that works far beyond the surface. Ultra-fine needles are placed in the face and body to stimulate circulation, restore the free flow of qi (vital energy), and bring fresh blood and nutrients to the skin. In Chinese medicine, when qi and blood move freely, there is less stagnation, less pain, and more vitality — which naturally translates into beauty.

Rather than masking signs of aging, cosmetic acupuncture restores harmony to the body and encourages the skin to renew itself. Clients often notice a brighter complexion, lifted contours, softened lines, and a deep sense of relaxation

  • This is one of the most common questions I hear, and I understand why — the idea of tiny needles can feel intimidating at first. But most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture actually is. The needles are extremely fine (about the width of a human hair), and the sensation is very different from what people expect. If you’re needle sensitive, we start with a few needles, and gradually work our way up once we’ve established trust, and you’re more comfortable with how acupuncture feels.

Rather than pain, you may feel a light, fleeting pinch followed by unique sensations: a gentle heaviness, warmth, tingling, or a “buzz” of energy. Many clients describe feeling their points communicating with one another, as if the body is waking up and reconnecting its own pathways.

Once trust is built with your practitioner, acupuncture often becomes something people look forward to — a treatment that feels grounding, calming, and deeply restorative. Paired with crystal singing bowls, it becomes a complete vibrational reset: the body, mind, and spirit dropping into harmony.

Most clients leave not only more relaxed, but often amazed that something they once feared could feel so profoundly good

  • No — and that’s the beauty of it. Botox works by freezing muscles, and over time, we all know what happens when muscles don’t move: they weaken and atrophy. Cosmetic acupuncture does the opposite — it stimulates and restores your natural energy and circulation, releasing tension where it’s held too tightly and toning areas that need more support.

This creates lift, balance, and radiance without injecting neurotoxins. And unlike Botox, cosmetic acupuncture improves your skin’s health over time: stronger collagen, better circulation, smoother lymphatic flow, reduced inflammation, and improved muscle function

  • Because the results are natural, cumulative, and lasting. Botox can give a quick freeze, but it doesn’t address the deeper causes of aging — stress, stagnation, circulation, posture, nervous system depletion, and hormonal shifts.

Cosmetic acupuncture addresses all of these. By restoring qi and blood flow, regulating the nervous system, reducing inflammation, and releasing muscle tension, it treats the roots of aging. Over time, consistency builds results that not only improve how your skin looks, but also how your body and spirit feel.

  • For best results, cosmetic acupuncture is done as a series: usually once or twice a week for 6–10 weeks, depending on your goals. From there, we move into maintenance treatments every 4–6 weeks to keep results building.

Consistency is key. Just like exercise or meditation, the benefits compound over time — lifting the skin, balancing the nervous system, and restoring long-term vitality.

  • Cosmetic acupuncture is both beauty care and whole-body medicine. Benefits may include:

    • Increased collagen and elastin production for firmer, smoother skin

    • Enhanced circulation and lymphatic flow, reducing puffiness and dark circles

    • Release of muscle tension (jaw, forehead, neck, shoulders)

    • Reduction in inflammation, calming redness and irritation

    • Nervous system regulation, easing stress, anxiety, and burnout

    • Support for hormone balance and overall vitality

    • Postural improvements, helping with tech neck and chronic tension

    • A brighter, more even complexion that reflects true health

Many clients notice not only changes in their skin, but also improved sleep, mood, digestion, and overall wellbeing.

  • Most beauty treatments focus only on the surface. Topical skincare has its place, but no cream can outrun the deeper effects of stress, stagnation, and nervous system imbalance. True radiance begins beneath the skin — where energy flows, circulation is restored, and the body remembers balance. Cosmetic acupuncture is unique because it works inside and out:

    • On the skin → stimulating collagen, improving tone, releasing tension.

    • In the body → regulating hormones, calming the nervous system, restoring qi and blood flow.

This dual effect is why clients often say: “My skin looks lifted, but I also feel more grounded, calm, and alive.”

  • Many clients notice a glow, brighter eyes, and softer tension after their very first treatment. But the deeper, structural changes — lifting, firming, and contour refinement — happen gradually and build with consistency. Just like exercise or meditation, cosmetic acupuncture is a practice: the more regularly you show up for it, the more lasting and transformative the results become.

  • Cosmetic acupuncture can be used safely alongside Botox or fillers, but timing matters. We avoid needling directly into those areas for 2–4 weeks after injections to allow the product to settle. Many clients choose acupuncture as a natural alternative or to extend the time between injectables.

  • Results vary depending on the treatment and your consistency. Cosmetic acupuncture results build over time with regular treatments, while microneedling results can last months as collagen continues to rebuild. Gua sha offers an instant glow and lift, with structural improvements when practiced regularly. Think of these treatments as a long-term investment in your skin and vitality.

  • Because I believe beauty is not about turning back time — it’s about embracing each season of life with vibrancy and confidence. “Anti-aging” suggests something to fight against, while my work is about pro-radiance: restoring your skin, calming your nervous system, and helping you look and feel like the best version of yourself at every age.

Micro/Nano Needling

  • Often referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy, Microneedling is an advanced skin renewal treatment that uses the FDA-cleared CytoPen S2®, a sleek pen-like device with a sterile cartridge of fine needles. The pen glides across the face, creating precise micro-injuries that you barely see.

These tiny channels activate the body’s natural repair system, stimulating collagen and elastin, improving circulation, and strengthening the skin barrier. To enhance results, I infuse the skin with the StemFacial® MD Matrix Solution of stem cells, growth factors, and hyaluronic acid for hydration and accelerated renewal.

The benefits include: smoothing fine lines, refining pores, softening scars, firming skin, and restoring long-term resilience and radiance

  • Microneedling is one of the more intense treatments in The Lively Collection, but it is well tolerated with the use of a topical numbing cream, which is applied before treatment and removed prior to needling. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or vibration rather than sharp pain — and the results are worth it: firmer, smoother, stronger skin over time.

  • Microneedling temporarily disturbs the skin barrier by creating controlled micro-injuries, but this is precisely what activates the body’s repair response. As the skin heals, it produces more collagen and elastin, ultimately strengthening the barrier, restoring resilience, and improving long-term health and radiance.

  • Nano-needling is the gentler sister to microneedling. It’s not painful, it has virtually no downtime, and it does not require a topical numbing cream. Using the same FDA-cleared CytoPen S2® with a nano-cartridge (no actual needles), the device creates microscopic channels in the skin’s outer layer without penetrating deeply. The sensation feels like a soft vibration — comfortable and relaxing.

These channels allow potent actives, including stem cells, growth factors, and hyaluronic acid, to absorb more effectively, leaving the skin instantly plump, hydrated, and glowing. Because it doesn’t break the barrier, there’s no downtime — just fresh, radiant skin.

The benefits include: enhanced hydration, immediate luminosity, improved tone and texture, and a refreshed, radiant complexion — perfect before events or as an accessible alternative to microneedling.

Traditional Acupuncture

  • This is one of the most common questions I hear, and I understand why — the idea of tiny needles can feel intimidating at first. But most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture actually is. The needles are extremely fine (about the width of a human hair), and the sensation is very different from what people expect. Consistency is key. Just like exercise or meditation, the benefits compound over time — lifting the skin, balancing the nervous system, and restoring long-term vitality.

  • Fire cupping is an ancient therapy that uses warmed glass cups to create gentle suction on the skin. The cups draw circulation to the surface, release fascia, and free areas of tension and stagnation in the muscles. The marks left behind are not bruises — they are evidence of old stagnation clearing, and they fade within a few days.

    For pain and posture:
Cupping dissolves tight knots, softens fascia, and improves alignment by freeing muscles that have been locked in stress patterns — particularly in the neck, shoulders, and back. Many clients notice instant relief and improved range of motion.

    For skin health:
By increasing circulation and lymphatic flow, cupping nourishes the skin, encourages detoxification, and supports a clearer, brighter complexion. It also helps with the flow of qi and blood in the face, which is essential in Chinese medicine for lasting beauty.

    For the whole system:
Cupping helps regulate the nervous system, reduce inflammation, and restore vitality. It’s deeply grounding, creating a sense of lightness in the body and calm in the mind.

Fire cupping is not only about release — it is about renewal. By clearing stagnation, it makes space for fresh energy, flow, and radiance to return.

  • E-stim, or electro-acupuncture, is the gentle use of microcurrents applied through acupuncture needles. After the needles are placed, small clips are attached to a few of them, connecting to a device that delivers a very soft, rhythmic current. You might see tiny wires resting lightly on your skin, with the needles gently pulsing — almost like a quiet, inner tapping you can feel but not see.

The sensation isn’t sharp or painful. Instead, most people describe a light buzzing, tingling, or rhythmic pulsing that feels grounding and even mesmerizing. On the face, these microcurrents encourage circulation, stimulate collagen, and help lift and tone the muscles. On the body, they melt away tension, dissolve stagnation, and restore healthy flow along the meridians.

When paired with crystal singing bowls, the experience deepens: while the microcurrents awaken your body’s energy pathways, the harmonic sound vibrations guide your mind into stillness. Together, they create a full-body vibrational reset — aligning the physical and energetic bodies, and leaving you restored from the inside out

  • Yes, acupuncture is widely used to support pregnancy. I carefully select points that are safe and supportive at each stage, helping with nausea, fatigue, pain, and emotional balance. Cosmetic acupuncture, however, is not recommended during pregnancy.

  • Arrive with clean skin, have a light snack beforehand, and wear clothing that allows access to your lower arms and legs. Most importantly, come ready to unplug — this is your time to pause, restore, and receive.

LED Light Therapy

  • LED (light-emitting diode) therapy uses specific wavelengths of light to target the skin at different depths. Red light stimulates collagen, improves circulation, and reduces inflammation, while blue light calms breakouts and clears bacteria. It’s a gentle, non-invasive treatment that leaves the skin brighter, calmer, and more resilient over time.

Cosmetic acupuncture, on the other hand, works by awakening the body’s own energy system — stimulating circulation, lymphatic flow, collagen production, and nervous system regulation. While LED focuses directly on the skin’s surface and cellular activity, cosmetic acupuncture addresses both the skin and the underlying systems (circulation, tension, hormones, stress) that affect how you age.

When combined, the results are amplified. Cosmetic acupuncture restores flow and balance from within, while LED light therapy enhances collagen and calms inflammation on the surface. Together they create a powerful synergy: skin that is both radiant and resilient, balanced and alive

Insurance & Pricing

  • The short answer: I choose quality of care over volume and insurance restrictions. In my practice, you are the only patient I see at one time, which allows me to focus solely on you. This creates space for deeper connection, individualized attention, and treatments that are never rushed.

Practicing this way also protects me from burnout, which means I can show up as the most vibrant, grounded version of myself for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel truly prioritized, seen, and cared for — never treated like a number.

The long answer: Insurance companies unfortunately don’t value acupuncture in the way it deserves. They reimburse acupuncturists at extremely low rates, deny many claims, and restrict coverage to very limited conditions — often only pain. This forces practitioners to see multiple patients at once, typically 40-50 patient per week, focus only on what’s billable, and spend hours fighting administrative battles just to get paid.

That model is the opposite of how I want to practice. My work is designed to be one-on-one, elevated, restorative, and deeply tailored — not rushed or dictated by what insurance will approve. By stepping outside the insurance system, I can create the kind of experience that allows you to fully receive care: quiet, intentional, and transformative.

  • Yes. If your insurance plan covers out-of-network acupuncture, I can provide you with a superbill (a detailed receipt) that you can submit directly to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please note that coverage varies, and not all services (like cosmetic acupuncture, fire cupping, or sound healing) are typically included.

  • Cosmetic acupuncture is generally considered an elective service, and most insurance plans do not cover it. I’m happy to provide you with a superbill for the acupuncture portion if you’d like to submit it to your insurance, but please note there is no guarantee of reimbursement.

It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider and to submit any claims directly. I do not bill insurance on your behalf, and I cannot be held responsible if your plan does not reimburse you. Many clients choose to invest in cosmetic acupuncture knowing the value extends far beyond what insurance recognizes or supports.

Gua Sha

  • Facial gua sha is an ancient healing art reimagined for modern skincare. Using smooth stone tools, gentle sculpting strokes release deep muscular tension, stimulate circulation, and awaken vitality in the skin.

On social media, gua sha is often simplified as “lymphatic massage.” While it does support lymphatic flow, its true power goes much deeper. Gua sha works by stimulating acupuncture points and meridians, restoring the free flow of qi (energy) and blood to the face. This nourishes the skin, eases years of held tension in the jaw, temples, and neck, and brings the nervous system into balance.

When practiced by a licensed acupuncturist trained in advanced facial gua sha, the treatment becomes profoundly transformative. Beyond sculpted contours and a radiant glow, clients often experience nervous system regulation, softer lines, and a release that feels as much spiritual as physical.

  • A consistent facial gua sha practice can literally transform the structure of your face. By releasing deep muscular tension, stimulating circulation, and restoring the natural flow of qi and blood, gua sha refines contours, lifts areas prone to sagging, and improves tone and texture.

Over time, the changes become lasting — not just in how you look, but in how you feel. Your face begins to carry less stress, your jaw and neck feel more open, and your complexion reflects a calm, balanced nervous system. Regular gua sha doesn’t just refresh your skin; it re-trains your tissues to hold a new, more radiant and harmonious expression.

  • You’ll notice immediate changes: brighter skin, less puffiness, and a feeling of openness in the face and neck. With consistent practice or treatments, gua sha refines contours, softens lines, and improves overall tone and structure over time.

  • Facial gua sha should not leave bruises if performed correctly, though light redness or temporary flush is common and a sign of healthy circulation. Body gua sha may leave therapeutic petechiae (marks), which fade within a few days.

  • Yes, gua sha can be adapted safely during pregnancy when performed by a trained practitioner. We avoid certain points and use gentle techniques to ensure it’s supportive and relaxing.

  • Occasionally, yes — especially if there’s stagnation under the skin. This is a temporary detox response as circulation and lymphatic flow increase. With consistency, gua sha actually helps prevent congestion by keeping energy and fluids moving freely.

  • On social media, gua sha is often shown as a simple “lymphatic massage.” In truth, gua sha works by stimulating acupuncture points, restoring circulation, releasing muscular tension, and calming the nervous system. As a licensed acupuncturist trained in advanced facial gua sha, I use precise techniques that go beyond surface beauty trends — helping reshape the face, improve skin health, and restore balance in the whole body.

  • Yes, though you’ll want to be gentle. Retinol can make the skin more sensitive, so always use nourishing oils and a light touch to avoid irritation.

  • Gua sha doesn’t erase wrinkles — it softens them by releasing the tension patterns that deepen lines, improving circulation, and supporting collagen production. With regular practice, the skin appears smoother, more open, and refreshed.

  • Facial gua sha won’t “shrink” your face, but it can refine and sculpt the natural contours by releasing muscular tension, draining excess fluid, and improving circulation. Over time, this can create a more lifted and defined appearance.

  • A high quality facial oil or serum, and facail hydrosol are both essential to allow your gua sha tool to glide without friction, and increase hydration. I recommend products that are clean, botanical, and supportive to your skin type. Heavy creams can cause drag, while oils or serums create the perfect slip.

  • No. The products you use during gua sha should be nourishing and beneficial for your skin — think high-quality oils or serums — so you’ll want to leave them on and allow them to continue working after your ritual.

  • Always apply your skincare first — gua sha is performed after cleansing and applying a facial oil or serum that provides enough glide. This ensures your tool moves smoothly across the skin without pulling or tugging.

  • Anytime that feels supportive to your routine. Morning gua sha helps reduce puffiness, wake up circulation, and energize your complexion. Evening gua sha is calming and restorative, a beautiful ritual to release tension and prepare the body for deep rest.

  • Facial gua sha is more than just a trend — it’s an ancient healing practice. With proper technique, gua sha stimulates circulation, releases tension, and restores balance to the skin and body. As a licensed acupuncturist trained in advanced gua sha, I guide my clients in how to use it safely and effectively. If you’re practicing at home, use light, upward strokes and always pair it with the right skincare product for slip.Check out our social media for step-by-step tutorials.

  • I always recommend choosing a high-quality, authentic stone tool that feels comfortable in your hand. I work with professional-grade tools designed for both efficacy and safety. A well-crafted gua sha tool ensures proper results and a smooth, soothing experience.

Quartz Crystal Bowl Sound Therapy

  • Quartz crystal bowls create pure, harmonic tones that resonate with the body on a cellular level. When played, their sound waves travel through both air and tissue, gently entraining the brain into calmer states and guiding the nervous system out of stress mode and into deep restoration.

I use sound healing as an integral part of The Lively Method because skin health is inseparable from nervous system health. Stress, burnout, and tension directly affect circulation, inflammation, hormonal balance, and even the way we hold our facial muscles. By calming the nervous system through vibration, the bowls support everything cosmetic acupuncture is doing: improving circulation, easing tension, and allowing the skin to glow from a place of inner balance.

On the skin, clients notice the difference: less puffiness, more even tone, and a brighter, more relaxed complexion. In the body, they feel it as a profound energetic release — a vibrational reset that leaves them grounded, open, and renewed.

Sound healing transforms each treatment into more than a procedure — it becomes a ceremony of recalibration, aligning skin, body, and spirit in harmony

  • Because skin health is inseparable from nervous system health. Quartz crystal bowls create harmonic tones that calm the mind, shift the body out of stress mode, and guide the nervous system into deep restoration. Stress shows on the skin — in inflammation, tension, and dullness. By resetting the nervous system through sound, we amplify the results of acupuncture, gua sha, and microcurrent, leaving skin brighter and the whole being more balanced.
